Sveti Štefan, Šmarje pri Jelšah : ウィキペディア英語版 | Sveti Štefan, Šmarje pri Jelšah
Sveti Štefan is a small settlement in the Municipality of Šmarje pri Jelšah in eastern Slovenia. It lies in the hills south of Šmarje in the Kozje region ((スロベニア語:Kozjansko)). The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Styria. The municipality is now included in the Savinja statistical region.〔(Šmarje pri Jelšah municipal site )〕 ==Name== The name of the settlement was changed from ''Sveti Štefan'' (literally, 'Saint Stephen') to ''Vinski Vrh pri Slivnici'' (literally, 'Wine Peak near Slivnica') in 1955. The name was changed on the basis of the 1948 Law on Names of Settlements and Designations of Squares, Streets, and Buildings as part of efforts by Slovenia's postwar communist government to remove religious elements from toponyms. The name ''Sveti Štefan'' was restored in 1994.〔''Spremembe naselij 1948–95''. 1996. Database. Ljubljana: Geografski inštitut ZRC SAZU, DZS.〕〔Premk, F. 2004.
